Contoured jewelry box in finely chased gilt bronze, Napoleon III period. The lid is adorned with a guilloché checkerboard pattern, surrounded by garlands of flowers, ribbons and two winged lovers. In the center, a signed enamel miniature of an elegant woman in profile, with Renaissance hairstyle, created with the remarkable pearlcence effect typical of certain 19th-century enamel-on-metal techniques.

The rim of the box is decorated with floral scrolls and stylized bouquets in classical vases. The interior is lined with antique green velvet.

A very charming object, typical of French decorative arts under the Second Empire. Perfect condition.

Signature: initials "HB" visible on the miniature.
