A large, ornately shaped shawl chest from the Charles X period, crafted from speckled maple with a beautiful flamed grain and a warm honey patina.
The front, sides, and back feature flowing curves characteristic of Charles X furniture, circa 1820-1830.
The domed lid displays an ornamental monogram in steel studs, likely composed of intertwined letters.
Around the lock is a motif of scrolls and volutes, also in steel studs.
The interior is fully lined with marbled wallpaper in shades of brown, burgundy, and cream.
Handles are located on each side.
Please note: the lock functions, but the chest does not lock because the hooks on the front panel are missing.
This chest has been restored in our workshops, including veneering, patination, and re-lining.
