Magnificent Victorian toiletry set, made of Snakewood veneer on mahogany: this precious wood of a deep yellow, endemic to the Guyanese forest, takes its name from the large brown spots that come to shade it, recalling the scales of a snake.
Rectangular in shape, this set includes 10 original containers in Crystal, each with its silver-plated and chiseled metal lid.
The lid, covered with its original royal blue fabric, remains locked thanks to a system of pliers, adjustable in four positions. A discreet push button opens a drawer with the same fabric, which offers an ideal hiding place to hide jewelry from prying eyes. This opener features the signature of the famous Liverpool manufacturer, "John Bagshaw & Sons", supplier to the British nobility in the Victorian era, attesting to its quality and authenticity. Note the presence on the lid of a plaque bearing the name of the first owner, Anne Verburgh.
Witness of another time and of a luxurious art of living, this splendid box with bewitching reflections will make a remarkable decorative object in your interior, while offering you interesting storage for your perfumes, and other small precious objects.
