    FLOWER HOLDER
    France, around 1880
    Gilt bronze and glass
    H. 20 ; Diameter: 21 cm

Flower-holder composed of a gilded bronze vase, which recalls the shape of the crater in chalice. It is mounted on a pedestal, entirely openwork and punctuated with medallions featuring putti and trophies of musical instruments and arts, women's heads, foliage and garlands of flowers. It is lined with a removable blue glass.
The large display case bears the signature "F. Barbedienne" in capital letters. It also has a lining of the same material and color as the vase.
