Pair of large ornamental vases or cassolettes in chased and gilded bronze, from the Empire Restoration period. Lateral handles decorated with female masks. Restoration period, circa 1820. Parisian work attributed to Thomire.
Very fine craftsmanship; each piece is made up of 20 independent parts, a sign of high quality. Very fine, deep mercury gilding in matte and gloss, finely chased bronzes. The elegance of the forms and the quality of the finishes are the signature of one of Paris's greatest bronziers, most likely Thomire. As our vases are not signed, they may also be the work of another master bronzemaker of equivalent quality, inspired by Thomire's model. The bases bear inventory numbers (1119), another Thomire habit.
A fine decorative object, ideal as a complement to a mantelpiece or on a chest of drawers or secretary.
Excellent condition, fresh original gilding with very slight wear.
