These two very large decorative vases are entirely veneered with bone on a wooden core. Some bone plates are sculpted in medium relief and enhanced with colors. The polychromy nuanced by the pallor of the bone accentuates the relief and animates the scenes that adorn the body of these vases. On each of the vases, scenes of children playing under umbrella pines show all sorts of activities: some play music, others carry lanterns, ride wooden or fabric mounts, practice arts martial arts while one of the toddlers dares to ignite what looks like a rocket of fireworks! There is no doubt that this one will startle his comrades who are lazy, lying in the grass.
