Pair of firedogs depicting children warming themselves in front of a firepot.
This pair of chiseled and gilded bronze firedogs depicts two young cupids seated on a natural mound, each wearing a cape draped over their shoulders. They hold their hands close to a brazier, placed at the end of each firedog, in the shape of a tripod cup with masks and goat feet from which flames emerge.
The firedog rests on four fluted spinning top legs, adorned with a crown of acanthus leaves above the ball of the foot.
A trim joins the legs lengthwise. The connecting pieces are adorned with a flower. A frieze of acanthus leaves tightens the firedog around the main scene.
