Description

This description has been translated and may not be completely accurate. Click here to see the original

Large metal desk inkwell, probably copper or bronze, with a silver, copper, and gold patina.

In a Japanese style, it features a rarely depicted subject: the turkey. Our example is finely chiseled, reminding me of the magnificent works of great French animal sculptors of the late 19th century, such as Barye, Isidore Bonheur, and Mène.
In good original condition, the glass is missing, as is often the case.
