A beautiful miniature antique-style lyre made of very finely chiseled bronze and gilded with mercury, early 19th century, set against a trompe-l’oeil green Swedish porphyry background within a frame of exposed lemonwood veneer accented with mercury-gilded bronze. An antique paper label is affixed to the back.

A beautiful, refined object typical of souvenirs from the Grand Tour, the aristocratic educational journey through Europe undertaken by young men from the highest echelons of European society from the 17th to the 19th century. Ideal for complementing a 19th-century neoclassical interior with one of those small details that create an authentic atmosphere.

Our piece stands out from common examples due to the quality of its chiseling, but above all because of its very large overall dimensions—it is like a small painting four times larger than a standard miniature.

In very good condition and composed of antique elements, the piece functions very well and looks completely natural. Superb quality of gilding and engraving.
