Paul Gomien born in Villers-lès-Nancy (54) in 1799 and died in Paris in 1846, was a French portrait painter, specialist of miniatures, belonging to the School of Nancy (portrait).
He was a student of André Larue dit Mansion (1785-c. 1834), better known as Mansion, who was himself a student of Jean-Baptiste Isabey (1767-1855). Influenced by Isabey, Paul Gomien exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1822 to 1846, the year of his death, and was very successful as a portraitist in Lorraine and then in Paris under Louis-Philippe, as was his brother Charles Gomien. He won medals in 1833 and 1846 with miniature portraits.
Paul died shortly before the 1846 Salon and was posthumously awarded a gold medal.
In the Museum of Nancy we have of him: Portrait of Michel-Joseph-Alphonse de Mique.
