Fine miniature portrait on ivory of an aristocrat during the reign of Louis XVI. 18th century circa 1770-80.
Dressed in a rich blue velvet robe corded with fur, a white tulle dress, she wears a fashionable Louis XVI wig adorned with diamonds. The young woman is elegant, well-represented and finely executed, with a beautiful face and expressive eyes. The miniature is framed in a pomponne pendant (brass gilded with fine gold, in an agate burnished finish). The back is gathered with pink satin.

A work in ivory, painted more than 120 years before the 1947 Washington Convention, and therefore in compliance with ivory trade regulations.

Our miniature is in excellent condition.
