    Carved wooden temple finial with Naga head, guardian of treasures, fertility, prosperity and immortality. Another emanation of the god Vishnu.
    Thailand, 18th/19th century.
    Beautiful faded wood patina, with vestiges of polychromy mixed with calcified lichens.
    Supplied with white or black steel base, with adjustable chofa inclination.
    Sold with its certificate of provenance: Estate of collector and art dealer Claude de Marteau.
    It is still sealed with its export license from Thailand's Department of Fine Arts, which authorized it to leave the country at the time (year 2519 on the Buddhist calendar, i.e. 1976).
