Or Virgin and Child: a singular sculpture to be classified as an example of Art Brut from the late 20th century.
This work was created in northern France by an artist-postman and is exhibited in a hospital in Roubaix. Drawing on African inspiration and a distinct sensitivity, the artist conceived it using a cast-iron pickaxe with two terracotta figures attached to it. The entire piece was painted in shades of rust.
