An octagonal medallion of the Virgin and Child, probably in plaster with soft colors, is nestled in a wooden frame with a beautiful patina.
The medallion, set against a red cloth background, is surrounded by rich gilded paperwork in the shape of sacred vases and birds.
This reliquary is dedicated to Saint Donat, whose ex-ossibus relics are on display here. This Roman nobleman, bishop of Arezzo, was beheaded in 360 A.D.
