    Swiveling Chinese cabinet made of camphor wood – circa 1950

    An elegant Chinese cabinet made of camphor wood, dating from the 1950s, entirely decorated with panels carved in high relief depicting scenes of traditional life, pagodas, bridges, figures, and landscapes. The carvings adorn the front as well as the sides, offering a refined design visible from every angle.
    This piece features an original design: the upper section rotates 360° on its base, allowing for various display and usage configurations. It opens via four doors with concealed handles, revealing a practical storage interior. This type of cabinet, inspired by traditional Chinese furniture, was crafted from camphor wood, prized for its natural fragrance and insect-repellent properties.
    The piece rests on a carved base decorated with dragons and traditional motifs, topped with curved legs. It features a beautiful original patina. There are some signs of wear and scuffing from use, mainly on the lower section and the back, which are consistent with its age and visible in the photographs, but do not affect its stability or charm.
