    Henri II-style hunting lodge sideboard in carved oak, late 19th century
    A remarkable, richly carved oak hunting lodge sideboard in the Henri II style, made in the late 19th century.
    This piece consists of two sections. The upper section opens with two large glass-paned doors framed by twisted columns, providing a display area for glassware, trophies, or collectibles. The interior features shelves offering ample storage space.
    The lower section opens with two doors carved in high relief with hunting trophies, horns, game, foliage, and hunting motifs. Two waist drawers, adorned with grape clusters and plant motifs, complete the piece.
    The abundant carving is found throughout the front: twisted columns, foliage moldings, Renaissance scrollwork, and an imposing architectural cornice centered on a lion mask. The flattened ball feet and generous proportions reinforce the prestigious character of this piece, intended for country estates and hunting lodges.
    Through its quality of craftsmanship and the richness of its decoration, this piece stands as a superb testament to the taste for the Renaissance style in the late 19th century.
