A rare “Low Table” coffee table designed by Étienne Fermigier and produced by J.E.R. in France around 1968.
It combines an original circular smoked glass top with a sculptural, self-supporting base composed of three sheets of folded stainless steel. This design principle gives the piece a presence that is at once light, graphic, and resolutely modern.
Dimensions: height 32 cm; diameter 85 cm.
Price listed for one table: €5,500. Three examples are currently available.
This model is notably included in the collections of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Saint-Étienne Métropole.
Trained at the École Boulle and later at ENSAD, Étienne Fermigier (1932–1973) founded the Meubles et Fonction gallery with Pierre Perrigault. Winner of the René-Gabriel Prize in 1967, he collaborated with several major manufacturers, including Airborne, Steiner, Sentou, Disderot, Monix, and Verre Lumière.
