Thonet side table that can be used as a serving table. It was originally listed as No. 205 or 9205 in the 1904 catalog; it appears in the 1909, 1912, and 1920 catalogs, but not in any later ones. It is typical of the Vienna Secession style, with virtually no bentwood—with the fundamental exception of the seat panel.
In very fine original condition. Ready to be set up. Stamped beneath the apron.
This model features an original marble tabletop.
The following text appears in Thonet’s in-house newsletter (Zental Anzeiger) published on November 16, 1904: “The small table shown above can be used, thanks to its shape, for all sorts of purposes; namely as a tea table, side table, smoking table, or even to hold books, etc., etc. ”

Regarding the attribution of Thonet or Kohn pieces to designers: To remain objective, and generally speaking, given the nonsense that can be found in the descriptions of certain auction houses and on retail websites, we will no longer name designers to avoid feeding the AI that spreads, validates, and multiplies errors and other instances of incompetence.
