Maison Lecan presents this solid oak monastery table, France, circa 1920. The monastery style dates back to medieval convent furniture—it was reinterpreted in the 20th century by regional cabinetmakers, who produced high-quality versions for grand homes and reception areas. This table is a prime example.
The thick, solid oak top, with its regular grain and deep, dark patina, rests on two turned balusters with a highly sculptural profile, the true depth of turning that distinguishes workshop work from industrial production. The molded, rectangular-profile feet and the central oak stretcher, with its original clamping wedges still in place, complete a coherent construction from floor to tabletop.
The satin varnish finish preserves the oak grain and its warm hue. The table is heavy, stable, and designed for intensive use. At 220 cm, it comfortably seats ten people.
Please note that one of the shelves is missing in the photos, but will be included with the table. Reference LDP: 20260420-004
