Brazilian modernist console table from the 1960s, in solid exotic wood, in the spirit of Sergio Rodrigues.
The base presents a sculptural tension, with slender oblong forms and a slightly curved central crosspiece, typical of tropical modernism's search for visual balance. The expressive wood grain underlines the piece's organic, exclusive character.
The shelf was replaced by the last owner and is probably in mahogany. An accomplished piece of craftsmanship, where the structure becomes as much functional as it is plastic.
The surfaces have been renovated by our restorer.
There are a few marks of normal wear on the shelf and very minor period restorations on the base, each about one centimetre long (see photos).
W 150 CM X D 47 CM X H 74 CM.
