    French work, 18th century

    Louis XVI period chest of drawers stamped by master cabinetmaker Francois Rubestuck (1722-1785) Cabinetmaker. Paris. Mastered May 7, 1766.

    Rosewood and amaranth veneer, medallion with cube marquetry in the center, chased bronze ornamentation.

    Capped with grey Sainte-Anne marble, the front is recessed, distributing a top drawer opening in two parts and two large drawers below.

    The jambs are panelled with imitation canelures in marquetry, and the bottom rail is adorned with a lamp base.

    Stamped F.RUBESTUCK on the left rear jamb and right front jamb, this piece is entirely period with a few wrinkles.
