Five-drawer chest of drawers – Transition Style – Marquetry and marble

Transition style chest of drawers with five drawers (Louis XV/Louis XVI), in wood veneer with marquetry and light wood framing fillets.

The sides have veneer arranged in a symmetrical chevron, typical of French cabinetmaking from the end of the 18th or beginning of the 19th century. The top is in red marble veined with white and gray. The upper corners are decorated with gilt bronze frames with neoclassical motifs; the tapered feet end in bronze sabots. The interior of the drawers and the back reveal heavily aged raw wood, with cracks and blackening attesting to its real age, probably between 1800 and 1850. Good overall condition according to the seller, visible wear and tear consistent with the period. Cleaning to be expected. Dimensions: H. 114 cm – L. 36 cm – Estimated weight 50 kg.
