Elegant curved jumping chest of drawers in solid walnut, typical of the Nîmes region in the 18th century, during the reign of Louis XV. This regional piece of furniture opens with two large drawers on the front, richly carved with foliate scrolls and rocaille motifs in relief, framing large original bronze handles and cut-out keyways.
The openwork base rail, carved with asymmetrical rocaille motifs, elegantly extends to the sides, emphasizing the refined workmanship of the decoration. The rounded jambs are finely molded with scalloped edges and descend to cambered legs with scrolled ends, typical of Provencal furniture from this period.
The corbin-beaked top, mounted with wedges, is original. The drawer bottoms and interiors are in pine, as is the back panel. Authentic Nîmes furniture from the Louis XV period, combining a robust structure, high quality carving and the refinement typical of 18th-century Provencal production.
