Cabinet of Work and Table Office, Louis XIII style - End of XIXth century

Beautiful Louis XIII set composed of a desk and a cabinet.

The desk table in solid oak with patina has a mitered frame top with scalloped shells around the edge. In the frame we find an important molding with doucine. In the center, this desk is equipped with a magnificent wine red leather with golden vignette. The belt of the desk is equipped with a drawer carved with an animal head and corners decorated with grotesque heads. Scrolls and foliage are also chiseled all around on a granite background. This table Bureau rests on twisted legs supported by a mass of wood held by feet galette. These legs are connected at the bottom by a twisted and turned strut, composed of several elements recessed on the side. This base is embellished with seven parts of turned wood of different heights.

The work cabinet is composed of two elements entirely in solid oak. The upper part has a large drawer carved with scrolls pulling through an animal head. It is flanked by twisted columns topped by large macaroons. In the center, two molded doors are carved with large coats of arms on a striated background, surrounded by an oval frame. Inside, we find lockers and small drawers.
The lower part of the cabinet is composed of a framed shelf with a wine red leather in the center decorated with a golden vignette. Underneath we find two mitered doors with a hollow molding accompanied by a panel in relief in the center. Inside we find a shelf on rack.
This set of two Louis XIII furniture perfectly illustrates this unique style by its decorations and its lighting effects. Both massive and pure, these pieces of furniture with twisted lines, will delight the lovers of carved furniture.
