Magnificent piece of furniture from the Napoleon III period, from a Parisian cabinet making workshop of the XIXth century, topped with a white marble of carrara marrying the curve of the front and sides.
This secretary is composed in the upper part of a flap simulating 3 drawers and four drawers of the same size.
The drawers are slightly curved on the front and highlighted by carved bronze strips. On the front, they are made of rosewood in the center arranged in four leaves, with a light wood fillet around the edge and a large rosewood surround. Each drawer is equipped with bronze entrances and original locks accompanied by their key, in working condition.
The opening of the flap reveals a maple flecked tabernacle, consisting of two niches and two small drawers with cedar front and rosewood knobs. The stained maple flap is darkened with red leather in perfect condition enriched with a gilded vignette, motifs at the corners and a harmonious central ornament.
The front and sides of this secretary benefits from numerous bronze trimmings. The rounded feet in rosewood veneer highlight the high and low falls. The sides are slightly curved towards the back and we find in the center an important four leaves rosewood with rosewood surround.
This piece of furniture rests on a protruding base dressed with a scalloped bronze.
The upper part of the piece of furniture ends in a diminutive groove with rosewood veneer, a bronze rod around the edge, and bronze trim on the corners.
In the projecting top there is an important molding in bronze gadrooned. At each corner, we find a bronze fall and in the middle an interlaced pattern.
Graceful and elegant, this Napoleon III secretary from the 19th century will delight you with its fine ornamentation.
