Secretary desk in moiré lemon veneer, amaranth, mahogany and ebony inlays and brass fillets. This is a Parisian or Bordeaux work, veneered on oak, from the late 18th or early 19th century.
This refined piece of furniture, with fluted uprights gathered in brass, opens with a flap top revealing a theater with numerous small drawers. The worktop is trimmed with gilded green leather for writing. The bottom is a cupboard with a drawer under the marble.
Our desk is a late Louis XVI production that may have been made during the Directoire period, between 1790 and 1800.
An excellent piece of furniture, it is veneered with refined woods: lemon moiré for a luminous effect and pearlescent highlights, enriched with brass and ebony fillets in mahogany frames. Cloverleaf locks are another sign of quality.
A very fine collector's item. Louis XVI furniture in lemonwood is displayed in the most prestigious museums.
Our piece is in excellent condition. It has just come from our cabinetmaker, who restored it and re-varnished it with a new pad, the old-fashioned way (not sprayed). The left corner of the marble has been repaired, and the brass fluting has been reworked.
