Magnificent Regency/Louis XV period solid molded and carved blond walnut games table, known as a cabaret table or middle table. The crosspieces are scalloped on all four sides. The scrolled belt opens onto four side drawers. The curved legs end in sabots. The top is covered with a tapestry decorated with vines and grapes. The tapestry is protected by glass. Its very fine patina, the movement of the brace-shaped headband and the delicately carved feet give this side table a great elegance. France - 18th century - The Louis XV style succeeded the Regence style. It is also known as the Rocaille or Rococo style. The Louis XV style was a genuine innovation that revolutionized the way furniture and interior design were conceived. In this respect, it can be compared to the Gothic style and Art Nouveau in that they represent creativity and technical advances in the use of materials. The Pompadour, Transitional and Louis XVI styles succeeded the Louis XV style, which remained an inspiration in each of these 3 styles. Many Louis XV pieces can still be found today at the Château de Versailles.
