Two-door display bookcase – Louis XVI period – Fir, marquetry and brass fillets

Two-door display bookcase from the Louis XVI period, in solid fir covered with marquetry veneer arranged in a herringbone pattern (fern pattern).

All the uprights, cornices and central fluted columns are enhanced with brass fillets and rods. The two glass doors have slightly curved upper arches, typical of the late 18th – early 19th century. The period lock is functional, equipped with its original key; an interior multiple bolt lock is also present. The untreated raw fir interior reveals three shelves and a solid plank back, attesting to an authentic old construction. The piece of furniture rests on console legs cut into an arc (bracket feet), characteristic of the Transition/Louis XVI style, with a molded base with brass fillet. The set shows consistent period wear: occasional flaking of the plating, oxidation of the brass, scratches on the back, without major structural alteration. Some cosmetic restorations are to be expected; interventions are possible in the workshop. Dimensions: H. 194 cm – L. 140 cm – Estimated weight: 80 kg. Delivery France: €350 – Europe: €850.
