This pretty little desk in the form of a console is a piece of furniture with multiple uses, which can be used as a writing desk with its drawer equipped with a leather shelf but also as a dressing table with the mirror placed at the bottom of the step,

It is therefore a feminine piece of furniture, with a very refined cabinet making with an architecture and an ornamentation inspired by Antiquity, we find a model of "small lady's desk" of a rather similar aspect with a step decorated with a mirror published in the magazine Mésangère in 1801,

This small piece of furniture is presented as a console with a step, the lower part rests on 4 feet with brass flutes finished by feet with brass rings, joined together by a pendant brace receiving a marble surrounded on these 4 sides by a bronze gallery with openwork heart motifs, the belt is veneered with burl of mahogany with masses veneered ebony in reserves of brass rod, serving as a writing table the belt opens with a drawer, which discovers once opened a pull with a leather and small locker on the right side to place an inkwell, the top of the furniture is encircled by a quarter round in brass and is veneered with a beautiful burr mahogany highlighted in a frame of brass fillet associated with ebony fillet, the tray receives two columns with brass fluting resting on a base with ebony reserve and finished by a brass capital, in the bottom a panel with stylized pilaster encloses a large mirror, this set receives a small marble tray with a bronze gallery openwork of heart, the model of the shelf of crotch

The materials used on this piece of furniture are reminiscent of the productions of Adam Weisweiler or Molitor with the use of white marble, bronze, fluting and brass fillet, beautiful mahogany burl and ebony veneer, this piece of furniture made by an unknown person since it is not stamped uses the same materials as the beautiful cabinetmaking productions of the end of the Age of Enlightenment

We date this nice little lady's desk from the very end of the 18th century or the very beginning of the 19th century, it is a Parisian work of beautiful quality and most decorative, the frame of the furniture is built in oak and fir, with traces of manual sawing, the mirror which is the original one is mercury, the shoes are cast in two parts, the galleries that enclose the marbles are made from different strands connected between them,

Very good condition, we note that the marble of the low table has an old restoration at the front left corner, the drawer has its period lock, there is a key but it is just used to pull the drawer, the mahogany woods have taken a beautiful blond color, the furniture has been cleaned.

When we dismantled the marble top, we had the pleasure to discover an annotation: "Evenard, cabinetmaker in Vannes made the repair of this piece of furniture on August 19, 1886.
