This full-sided desk opens at the waist with four drawers, two identical on the left, one wider but lower in the center and one higher, compartmentalized drawer simulating two fronts.
With the exception of the central drawer with brass knob, all are fitted with original locks with keys and inlaid escutcheons, also in brass.
The top, with its mitered frame and discreet corbin spout, is upholstered in later fir-green leather embellished with a gilded motif and vignettes.
The uprights are carved with palmettes, and the stopped fluted base is turned and ringed. The legs are profiled on foot squares, joined by crossbeams and a central crossbeam.
The whole rests on four ball feet.
The back is sober and uncluttered, while the sides are each darkened with a panel highlighted by molded baguettes.
This desk is built to last. It blends easily into a variety of interiors, whether classic or contemporary.
