Following in the footsteps of Marcel Breuer, Le Corbusier, Mark Stam and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, a number of Frenchmen contributed to Bahaus design, mainly Emile Guillot and René Herbst, who worked for Thonet between 1929 and 1939.
Here's a stand-mounted coat rack N°B132, designed by Emile Guillot for Thonet in nickel-plated steel, found in the 1934 Thonet catalog. The workmanship is remarkable, the condition perfect, in its original state, with some pitting at the bottom giving it a slight patina.
Dimensions: H: 180 cm, the base is contained in an equilateral triangle of 50 cm sides, plumb with the head of this parrot. A number is stamped on the underside of one leg.
