Exceptional Syrian Apparatus Set, in Walnut and Inlaid Decorations - Late 19th Century

Magnificent Syrian Ensemble, composed of a Middle Table and a Ceremonial Armchair.
These two elements are almost completely covered with inlays of bone and mother-of-pearl, ebony in bands and lemon trees in fillets. These Decors produced with great finesse and a taste for detail represent various motifs, such as Rinceaux, floral or geometric friezes, sometimes circular.
The Table is composed of a rectangular top with a cut-out wooden gallery on the perimeter of the underside. This top is supported by four octagonal pillars joined together in pairs on a raised plinth. All offer alternating inlays of bone and walnut forming different decorations from one foot to another while maintaining the same colors. These four supports are crowned with flared and sculpted capitals and ended with molded bases on eight sides.
This base rests on a second plate, smaller than the first, also sporting many friezes and arabesques.
The Armchair, just as richly decorated, offers a wide backrest, with a round cutout in the upper part, as if to materialize the location assigned to the head of its occupant. The sides are formed by two rectangles positioned vertically and also summed up by circular elements, more modest.
Historically a symbol of power in Ancient Rome, this Curule chair rests by definition on an X-shaped base. It is composed of two times five brackets of square section, curved, crossing under the seat and extending beyond to serve as supports. at the armrests.
This Apparatus Ensemble has benefited from a meticulous restoration, for a rendering that arouses admiration. Very Decorative, it will seduce fans of Oriental Art or will trigger a crush among lovers of unusual Antiquities.
