Marquetry cabinet with a front simulating three drawers and opening with one drawer along the apron and two doors. Inside, the cabinet conceals a cabinet with file boxes covered in gilded leather with small ironwork. In rosewood marquetry within amaranth frames, it is adorned with beautiful gilded bronzes with doe hooves. Above, a Pyrenees marble cabinet with a coved molding. Louis XV - Louis XVI transition period, circa 1770.
This beautiful cabinet was furnished as a cabinet in the 1900s by a renowned Parisian cabinetmaker. The boxes bear the stamp of L. Gouverneur Gainier, 37 Quai de l'Horloge in Paris. (Gouverneur, supplier to Emperor Napoleon III and all the crowned heads of Europe in the late 19th century.)
A fine collector's item, a rare find.
