This light wood table is in the Louis XIII style. It features a drawer in the apron, four twisted maple legs joined by an X-shaped stretcher, and rests on flattened, spherical maple feet. The top and apron are made of maple burl inlaid with ebony stringing. The geometric marquetry is reminiscent of the work of the Haches dynasty in Grenoble.
In good overall condition, this piece can serve as either a writing table or a formal table, and can be placed either in the center of a room or against a wall.
Mid-19th century.
