    Magnificent Bohemian red crystal vase, mouth-blown and engraved on the lathe, decorated with lozenges and vine leaves. The red color was obtained using metal oxides such as lead oxide, while the decoration of hollow vine leaves was achieved by applying acid to the crystal. In the 16th century, a goldsmith from Prague, Caspar Lehmann, adapted the wheel-carving technique previously used for precious stones to glass and crystal cutting. The wheel is in fact a tool with a rotating circular abrasive stone on which the artist incises the glass to create patterns.
