Beautiful 42-piece crystal glass service from Val Saint-Lambert, Belgium:
- 7 water glasses (height 12.5cm, diameter 7.5cm)
- 9 red wine glasses (height 10.7cm, diameter 6.5cm)
- 14 white wine glasses (height 10cm, diameter 8.5cm)
- 11 champagne glasses (height 8cm, diameter 8.5cm)
- carafe (height with stopper 22cm)
The glasses, blown from very fine, sonorous crystal, are extremely sober, with the goblet resting on a relatively short leg, the foot circular.
The decanter follows the silhouette of the glasses, its octagonal stopper bearing the number 149, which is engraved inside the neck, confirming the concordance of the stopper and decanter.
The set probably dates from the 1930s, and none of the pieces are signed (as is the case with all crystal glassware produced before the Second World War), but several glasses still bear the crystal glass label on their stems. All the glasses are in perfect, accident-free condition, and there's every reason to believe that this service has been carefully preserved, with little or no use.
