Very fine cut crystal drageoir from the Le Creusot or Baccarat crystal works (one became the property of the other in 1832); diamond-point decoration on the lid, drageoir body and frame.
The lid is decorated with oves around the rim, diamond points, then cut with flat ribs, the grip knob again with diamond points. The pedestal is star-shaped below the base, as is the base of the frame,
Diameter of sucker 13.5cm, diameter of frame 18cm, total height 20.5cm.
The crystal is heavy and sonorous, typical of Baccarat production under the Restoration and the July Monarchy.
The model can be compared with two plates from the 1840 Baccarat crystalworks catalog: although the diamond-point motif is not present, the model is identical in form, and certain details (the ovals around the lid, the star-shaped cut under the base of the drageoir and frame) are present.
