André Marchand (1877-1951)
Parisian academic painter, trained by the greatest academic masters of the time (Léon Bonnat, Édouard Detaille, and Gaston Toudouze).
He exhibited his works at a very young age, becoming a member of the Society of French Artists in 1898. Recognized for his military and equestrian scenes, he was honored by the Society of French Artists early in his career in 1904 and 1920.
He distinguished himself with his paintings of military scenes, portraits, and numerous equestrian scenes, in the French academic tradition of the turn of the 20th century, with particular attention to detail and realistic representation.
Several of his works are held in public collections, notably at the Massey Museum (65).
