André Marchand (1877-1951)
Parisian academic painter, trained by the greatest academic masters of the time (Léon Bonnat, Édouard Detaille and Gaston Toudouze).
He exhibited his work from an early age, becoming a member of the Société des Artistes Français as early as 1898. Recognized for his military and equestrian scenes, he was honored by the Société des Artistes Français early in his career, in 1904 and 1920.
He distinguished himself with paintings of military scenes, portraits and numerous equestrian scenes, in the French academic tradition of the turn of the 20th century, with particular attention to detail and realistic representation.
Several of his works are held in public collections, including the Musée Massey (65).
