This work is framed in a handsome antique frame with a beautiful patina that has been somewhat damaged by the passage of time. Here and there, we can see minor wear and tear (see photo), which in no way detracts from its charm.

This still life by Jean Perret ( XXᵉ century painter), done in pastel and gouache on paper, illustrates all the richness and sensitivity of the Lyonnaise School. The artist, recognized as President of the Jury of the Société Lyonnaise des Beaux-Arts, delivers here a composition of rare chromatic intensity.
The scene features a table set with a bowl of red and green apples, a pitcher with purple highlights, a glass of milk and a plate of pears and citrus fruit. Vivid, contrasting colors - luminous greens, deep reds, intense purples and bright yellows - harmonize with subtlety, lending the whole a vibrant energy.
The play of materials between velvety pastel and fluid gouache reinforces volumes and creates a warm, intimate atmosphere, characteristic of Lyon's pictorial tradition yet resonating with a timeless modernity.
