    18th century French school, portrait of an aristocratic lady dressed à la Grecque as Flore. Oval pastel, presented in its original molded oak frame, gilded with gold leaf. Late Louis XV period, circa 1770.

    Our portrait is inspired by the composition of portraits of the Comtesse du Barry by Drouais or in bust by Pajou.

    At the cutting edge of fashion, our young woman with her mischievous look is portrayed here à la Grecque, en Flore. Her thin, almost transparent dress barely conceals the attributes of her charm.

    A fine, well-executed painting, highly representative of the transition period between Louis XV and Louis XVI. The subject is fresh and very charming.

    Very good condition, the carved wood frame, gilded with gold leaf, has been cleaned and retains its original 18th-century gilding.
