André Hambour 1909-1999
"André Hambourg masters all the techniques of pictorial art with that freedom which characterizes him, attaching himself to no movement, no School"
piece : 1000 euros
This was due to his training, including evening classes in sculpture at the Ecole de la Ville de Paris, the Académie Collarossi-atelier Favory, the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts, the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs, and long study periods at the Louvre, where he met Derain. In 1933, he became a resident at the Villa Ad el Tif (the French equivalent of the Villa Médicis in North Africa).
From 1929 onwards, he took part in the main Parisian salons: des Tuileries, des Artistes Indépendants, d'Automne, of which he became a member, etc., as well as in numerous national and international groups in Algiers, Oran, Casablanca, Rabat, London, Brussels and New York.
In 1951, President Vincent Auriol presented him with the insignia of Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur at the Elysée Palace;
1960: Officer of the Legion of Honor;
1986 Commandeur des Arts et Lettres and Commandeur de la Légion d'honneur;
