Dorda was one of the best pastel portrait painters of his time. After a brief stay in Havana in 1927, he settled in New York where he acquired a great reputation as a portraitist; among his models, opera singers such as Lucrezia Bori, and Hollywood stars such as Greta Garbo, Marlène Dietrich or Katherine Hepburn. Dorda exhibited in 1930 at the Galerie Chambrun, Madison Avenue, New York. An important collection of his works is kept at the Museum of the City of Leon, Spain (Maria Conception Gago Montilla Collection) and many pastel portraits are in private collections.
