Charming watercolor drawing of a little girl standing next to an elderly woman, probably giving her some advice.
Edmond Eugène VALTON (1836-1910)
was a French painter and draughtsman.
Along with Hector Guimard, Georges Seurat, Paul Signac and Henri-Edmond Cross, Edmond Valton was one of the founders of the Salon des Indépendants in 1884, in reaction to the conservatism of the official Paris Salon.
He was president of the Société des Artistes Indépendants from 1889 to 1908.
Eugène Valton liked to depict common folk in town and country, scenes of everyday life.
His works can be found in the Musées d'Orsay and the National Gallery in Washington.
