Léa Lafugie (1890-1972) was a painter who traveled extensively throughout Asia. She is renowned for her portraits. She studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, then at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Endowed with an adventurous and inquisitive spirit, in 1925 she decided to travel to Asia, notably China, India, Tibet, Japan and the Indochinese peninsula. She left behind numerous portraits of women taken on the spot during her sojourns.
