Adrien Thibault, born in Francillon, in the commune of Villebarou (Loir-et-Cher) on November 19, 1844, and died on April 13, 1918, in La Chaussée-Saint-Victor (Loir-et-Cher), was a ceramist and historian. He was a student of the ceramist Ulysse Besnard and then joined the Gien pottery works in 1872. He established his own workshop in 1874 in La Chaussée-Saint-Victor, where he worked until his death. He was married to Louise Septier, with whom he had three children: Louis, Adrienne, and Marie-Louise. Throughout his life, he conducted research on colors. He is notably the originator of "Thibault Blues." He produced hundreds of earthenware pieces: plates, planters, sugar bowls, ashtrays, bottles, sweets dishes, candy dishes, and vases. IMPOSING PLANTER in good condition. Note that there are some chips in the enamel and a star at the bottom of the planter that does not penetrate.
Very beautiful model, marked AT 1876, which we attribute to Adrien Thibault.
