Give your walls a poetic breath from the Dutch countryside, with this rare pair of Delft earthenware wall plaques, signed by the artist Frans B. Höppé and produced by the famous Joost Thooft & Labouchère factory, circa 1880-1900.
Each of these plates features an elegantly openwork rocaille shape, typical of the Dutch decorative style of the 19th century. Entirely hand-painted in the famous Delft blue monochrome, they illustrate two exquisitely detailed scenes of country life:
- The first depicts a windmill standing on a hillock, accompanied by figures in traditional dress;
- The second depicts a peaceful landscape with farm, river and herd of cows.
These picturesque scenes aptly evoke the windmills and polder landscapes around Amsterdam, notably the Zaanse Schans and Kinderdijk regions, so often immortalized by Dutch artists of the period.
Each plate is signed in the decor by the painter Frans B. Höppé, a figure renowned for his naturalistic, bucolic compositions.

Condition : Very good overall condition. Beautiful patina with fine glaze cracks typical of old earthenware. No restoration. The hanging holes are original.
