“Objects that linger in your gaze. And to which, inevitably, you return.” This remarkable pair of painted ceramic amphorae was made in Italy at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, a time when Europe was passionately rediscovering the forms and stories of Antiquity.

Their silhouette is directly inspired by the great antique models, reinterpreted with a decorative sensibility characteristic of Neoclassical taste. The tall handles with their broad volutes, punctuated by sculpted masks and scrolls, give the pieces an almost lifelike presence, as if animated by a mythological breath.
Each body is hand-decorated with marine scenes populated by naiads, putti, deities, and sea creatures. The figures move within idealized landscapes where the sea, clouds, and seashells compose a world imbued with poetry.

The palette, dominated by blues, seafoam greens, golden ochres, and ivory tones, harmonizes beautifully with the rich painted ornamentation of the pedestal and base. The compositions evoke both antique frescoes and the great Italian decorative traditions.
Presented as a pair, these amphorae lend an exceptional sculptural presence to any interior. They can complement both classic furniture and contemporary décor, where their striking silhouette and refined artistry truly come into their own.
More than mere decorative objects, they bear witness to a particular moment in the history of taste: one in which Antiquity was dreamt of, reinvented, and transformed into an art of living.
