A magnificent antique French medallion dating from the Napoleonic era, meticulously crafted in 18-karat gold and adorned with seed beads. The bail is 18k yellow gold. The interior is lined with glass and serves as a divider. It can be used as a photo holder or keepsake. Hallmarked with the French horse's head (twice), guaranteeing its 18-karat gold content (750/1000).
The French horse's head hallmark was used by the Assay Offices of the departments from May 9, 1838, to June 30, 1919. It was used to mark small, domestically produced gold items intended for sale within France and tested using a touchstone. The horse's head only guarantees the minimum legal gold content of 750/1000.
Note: There are a few scratches on the glass insert inside the medallion, due to opening and closing. Overall, it is in good condition. Jewelry in used condition. Sold as is.
