Beautiful pair of large candelabra with three sconces including a central one, in patinated and gilded bronze.
Circular base decorated with palmettes and waves, pedestal chiseled with stars and olive frieze, central shaft knurled with flower crosses then fluted.
The latter ends in a large ring decorated with a frieze of acanthus leaves, ivy and flowers.
At its top, a new pedestal carries a sphere flanked on either side by a marine animal, extended by a long acanthus leaf welcoming a binet, the whole simulating the arms of light.
In the upper and central part of this sphere, a baluster foot formed of acanthus leaves accommodates the third light, concealed under the "mouchette" embellished with a flame.
Good state of preservation.
Work from the end of the Empire period, beginning of the Restoration period.
Height: 53.5cm
Base diameter: 15 cm
A candlestick can carry one or more candles. When a candlestick has several branches carrying candles, it can be called a candelabra. A girandole is the upper part of a candelabra, sometimes removable, carrying the arms of light.
